On 16 December 2024, China officially released its independently developed emergency diesel generators for nuclear power plants, known as “Nuclear Diesel One”. These generators have achieved a number of key performance and reliability indicators that meet international standards. This is the first time that China has fully developed the independent design and manufacturing capability of emergency diesel generator sets for nuclear power plants.

Emergency diesel generator sets for nuclear power plants serve as the “last line of defense” in the emergency power supply system. Their primary function is to kick in when the main and auxiliary power supplies fail, providing emergency power to safety equipment. This ensures the safe shutdown of the reactor and plays a vital role in maintaining nuclear safety.
