On 13 February, China National Nuclear Power Co. Ltd. (CNNP) announced that its subsidiary, the Nuclear Power Operations Research Institute (NPORI), has successfully integrated the DeepSeek large-scale model into its “Hezhi” smart platform. Together with the previously launched ‘Hezhi-Longling’ model, this integration aims to drive comprehensive innovation in nuclear power applications.

The integration of DeepSeek is more than just a technical upgrade - it marks a milestone in the intelligent transformation of the nuclear power industry. Specifically, it delivers four key breakthroughs:

· Improved safety: AI-based decision-making systems significantly reduce the risk of human error, creating an ‘intelligent line of defense’ for nuclear safety.  

· Optimized economics: Integration optimizes operation and maintenance costs while extending the life cycle of equipment, contributing to CNNP’s concept of ‘optimal nuclear power’.  

· Innovation in talent development: A dual ‘human expert + AI’ mentoring system accelerates knowledge transfer and workforce specialization.

· Redefining industry standards: New intelligent standards and specifications will set benchmarks for digital transformation in the international nuclear industry.

This achievement represents a significant step forward in the digital transformation of the global nuclear power industry.
