On 22 July, the inauguration ceremony for China Fusion Energy Co., Ltd. was held in Shanghai. Gong Zheng, the mayor of Shanghai, attended the event and unveiled a plaque with Shen Yanfeng, Chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), to mark the company’s official establishment. Speeches were delivered by Liu Duo, vice mayor of Shanghai, and Dai Houlang, Chairman of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). Zhang Jie, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also attended the ceremony.

The China Fusion Energy will focus on core areas including overall design, technical verification, and digital R&D, while establishing technology R&D and capital operation platforms to integrate research, development, and industrialization. During the ceremony, agreements were signed for a deepened cooperation with the Fusion Innovation Consortium, as well as for a capital increase and share expansion.

The official establishment of China Fusion Energy represents a significant step forward in the development of the fusion energy industry driven by Chinese central state-owned enterprises. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in the accelerated development of a world-class fusion energy company.
