On 16 October, Linglong One — the world’s first commercial onshore small modular reactor, and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) multi-purpose small modular reactor demonstration project in Changjiang, Hainan Province — completed the cold functional test of the primary circuit. This achievement confirms China’s comprehensive capabilities in advanced nuclear system design, high-end manufacturing, and multi-party project management. It paves the way for subsequent hot testing, fuel loading and eventual commercial operation.
