Zhang Guoqing Attends the Second Nuclear Energy Summit and Delivers Keynote Address
On 10 March, Zhang Guoqing, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special representative, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and vice premier of the State Council, attended the Second Nuclear Energy Summit in Paris and delivered a keynote address.
He stated that China has always adhered to the rational, coordinated and balanced approach to nuclear security proposed by President Xi, and has actively contributed to the global development of nuclear energy through concrete actions. He also expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with all parties in implementing the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. He called for joint efforts to advance innovation-driven development, strengthen safety and security, enhance industrial collaboration and pursue win-win cooperation in the nuclear energy sector. He noted that such efforts would enable nuclear energy to better serve the development and prosperity of all countries and contribute to building a clean, beautiful, sustainable world, as well as a community with a shared future for humanity.
The summit was attended by heads of state or government, or high-level representatives, from over 30 countries, as well as leaders of relevant international organizations. A joint statement entitled “Safe and Affordable Nuclear Energy for All” was released at the summit.
