On March 9, 2022, Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. and State Power Investment Northeast Electric Power Co., Ltd., the largest central heating supply enterprise in Liaoning, signed a cooperation agreement on the construction, operation and maintenance of nuclear energy heating supply demonstration projects. It is the first nuclear energy heating supply project in Northeast China, located in Hongyanhe Town, Wafangdian City, Dalian City. On February 25, the first pot of concrete was poured into the raft base plate of the nuclear island reactor building of Tianwan Nuclear Power Unit 8, marking the start of Unit 8 construction. It is the first nuclear power unit that has started construction in China for 2022.
